Yeah looked at that, but liked the idea of the ease of plugging in a boost gauge too.

If it's an electronic EGR you can't replace it with a bypass without the EML being permanently on unfortunately.

and if it is electric, why bother blanking it? just disconet the power plug on the side and the valve will be shut!

Because the EML will come on, and will potentially mask other faults.
