st170 exhaust cam pulley
hi guys wondering has anyone fitted to their st170, my car has 81k on it and is a 2002 car so im going to be pulling it into the garage some saturday im not working on anything else and putting a kit on it, but wondering if would be worth my while to buy an adjustable exhaust cam pulley, is there a noticable power difference by adjusting it? is the fuel economy reduced by much? and can i adjust it myself? i am a qualified mechanic by the way
well i not qualified but have read in mags n such i can add few bhp and more with a remap n panel filter, have heard it can be done by hand but its recomended to have the adjustable cam gears only one is changerable the exhast side i think, ur also need the cam locking tool,
some people are recomending light weight billet wheels n runners, or underdrive kits as well for better engine response, (dont know if the underdrive will affect battery charge at low revs)
let us know how u get on

https://passionford.com/forum/ford-f...70-tuning.html on the same topic, set exhaust cam retarded 5 degres for about 5bhp think i read that they can be set up to -8 but this mite be extreme,
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

I had mine running 8degrees retarded and went like stink top end. I had an adjustable CFM pulley but it equated to one tooth, so if you retard your timing one tooth on the standard pulley its equivalent to -8degrees. Well worth doing, it wont give extra power as such but will move the power band to a move usable place in the rev range. You may find it bogs down at low rpm though
