Default thermostat housing leak st170...looks like plug weaping?

i have a small leak of anti freeze, on my thermostat housing for st170 54plate.... according to service history the housing has alreasy been replaced a few years ago due to a leak
im told the housings can crack but it appears to be leaking around the plug ...(which seems to be a redundant part) does anybody know if ordering these from ford they come with the o-ring suited? i have ordered the replacement plug and spring clip from ford all for £9 as the entire housing was going to be £94 inc vat
the part number for the plug was FINIS 1150991

Very very very common on the st170, it's the seal on the plug under the housing that is leaking. New plug and seal, and maybe a bit of sealant around it too just to make sure.

does it matter if you put the clip in...so that you pushing it away from you as opposed to how i removed it which was to pull towards the bulkhead.... the plug had been bodged by a garage before as it had sealant on it.

so when they crack where abouts do they crack? any photos? the new plug has stopped the trickle down the bellhousing but i seem to have always had a slight drip after running the car which comes from the black plastic strip that is directly under the radiator....no pipes seem to be leaking etc though is this likely to be condesation? although it smells like weak coolant (the mix in my car is 70% coolant i would say after doing the plug i topped up with a strong mix) also i dont think its a leak as surely it would be hot not stone cold especially notice this after a journey when engine is hot.... seems odd that it stops after about a pipette worth of fluid everytime and sometimes notice a small wet patch on drive about size of a £2 coin

Hi from NZ . Anyone measured the O ring size / groove for this blanking plug, before I remove the plug, cant get this plug at the moment, if not will measure myself and look up my world O ring book.
