Default My Escort RS Turbo Cab Reshell

So unless some of you have seen it on another site here is my escort cabby

this is the car just after when i'd bought it in 2007, i changed the wheels to the ones in the next few pics at a Somerset car show in Bath

after bought (skuse the other site name. theyre long gone)

then at the show looking mint

Did a nice auto specialists manifold change

uprated the turbo to T35 hybrid

then disaster struck when i was on a trip in cannock and fog caught me out i hit an island at 20mph and it smashed two wheels and bent my chassis upwards towards bulkhead
I left the car overnight and had to go to motorsport wheels and buy a new set of wheels just to get me home

Result was, bent shock and arb, and tca bent too. i didnt know about the chassis until i replaced all these bits! Koni shock was £114 alone

wheel was much straighter after.
But i enquired about getting the car jigged straight, and they wanted about £450 to do it. and there was no guarantee to how the rest of the bodywork would re act to it dependant on rust etc.
So i opted to get a new shell

So i found a shell on eBay in middlesex, so after a road trip to get it and £100 worth of fuel to tug it back i had a new shell for £250 total. bargain!!

and it was pretty mint besides a couple of bits. all gen ford wings etc. just sodding battery tray

pics

So I thought i would rip out the tray to inspect the rot

But i thought get a repair panel and have away with old bit

put the new tray in but i wasnt really happy with the welded look

Meanwhile ive stripped the whole of the old shell, and with the help of a tractor a couple of times got every last bit off

and rolled over to strip underside, my mate cracking straight on

Result was one stripped shell good for scrap and nothing else. shame really from what it was but never the less onwards it goes

But even then i cut off the whole front, and cut out the bulkhead to replace the garbage repair on the tray, i shall spot weld it in for the original look

Made up a couple of rollover spits for the car to be span so that i could make sure this shell was minter than the other one when done, and once mounted began removing underseal

All the underseal is now off currently and this unfortunately is how the car is at the moment, as i moved into a unit and it got pushed to the corner for me to do other stuff. unfortunately other stuff turned into my fiesta after the snow attacked it and made me want to do alot with it. see my other thread for that.

I will update as soon as i start work on this again, but wont be for a little while yet. Thanks for looking!

Same colour as original was mate. Ford Azure (electric) blue. Lovely pearl in it. Although the new shell is a Limited SE im not too bothered about that colour code as its nasty two tone

Actually mate they are the new generation of goggles called stealth goggles, invisible to the naked eye but just as good as conjunctivitis in the eye department!!

Lol, yeh in all seriousness everytime i get a set of goggles someone puts them on the lense n does spin the bottle with them or something or treads on them which make you look a tool with one armed glasses... so havnt used any in a while. But i dont know if you can tell but i was actually squinting which is far superior to plastic goggles! FTW
