Default Very good Mk2 XR2 for sale

Hi guys

I am soon getting my own place and unless I downgrade my daily I will have to free up a bit of extra cash that I ploughed into my latest XR2 foray.

The car is on about 50,000 miles, MOT, Tax etc. wants for nothing - all little niggly jobs have been done (see the 'project' thread on xrtwo.com for details).

Since I bought the car in December it has had the following:

Full service - oil, plugs, leads, brakes etc.
K&N filter (still have original if you prefer)
2 x brand new calipers and new pads
New clutch pedal ratchet mechanism
New battery
New coil

And just before I bought it, it had:

Cambelt service
New exhaust
New clutch cable

Sure there are a few things I've missed, both before and during my ownership - I'm writing this quickly at work on my lunch without my records to hand.

I've got receipts and dates for all work I've carried out, minimal details of work before this.

Bodywork:

Overall, very good condition - few blemishes in the paint, stone chip touch ups etc.

The bodywork was restored around 3 years ago, by the guy who I bought the car off who has restored several old Fords and is a fully qualified professional bodywork technician. It had a full glass out, kit off respray carried out in the original Rosso red. You could pick fault with the paintjob, and there are a few scratches on the roof but it's very good and my mates have all said it's 'mint' though I reserve the use of that word to be honest.

Most importantly - no rust, no rust, very good shell. Fully waxoyled by me - at which point I checked with a fine-toothed comb for rust. It has had a few bits of welding in the past, but all neat enough and done properly.

The kit is all fitted properly and is a nice original finish, not faded or warped etc. and nice and clean behind it.

The pics speak for themselves, nothing I can spot with my fussy eye will come out in photos so if you want a good honest, solid, well presented mk2 this is the car.

Interior:

As per the pics, in very good condition - can't pick fault at all - no evidence of smoking, damage or even the wear and tear you might expect of a 50,000 mile car.

No wet floors, carpets all clean and tidy so hasn't ever had. Sunroof doesn't leak, works as it should and no rust in aperture.

Mechanicals:

Everything spot on, runs smooth, no knocks or rattles, no smoke, no use of oil, no leaks. Starts first time and idles smoothly, auto choke works perfectly, the slight stutter I had was solved by putting the K&N on (to do with the vacuum as suggested by members on here at the time).

Steering, suspension, gearbox, clutch etc. nice and tight as you'd expect.

I think it's MOT'd til July but will have to double check. Will double check and update on tax too but it's got plenty left to run I think.

If I think of anything else I'll update the post, but overall it's a very good example and anyone who knows me will know that I have very high standards and am almost unreasonable when it comes to my expectations of how good an old car should be condition wise.

It's a good looking car, and I am enjoying owning one again. It is literally the looming house purchase situation that is on my mind.

Cheers for reading. And I apologise to those who might be thinking "FFS Paul!"

Price: £2300 (no offers - first to see will buy and all that)

Paul

Sorry, would be keeping this if it wasn't a 'need the cash' thing.

Thanks though!

I'd get rid of my ST200 for this without a doubt, what an absolute belter of an XR2.

Cheers,

Tbh fella you can find flaws in any paintjob and I'd say that looks spot on.
Very fair price for a lovely looking car, loved mine 13 years ago,one of the best handling cars I had, mine was nothing like that clean either.

Hi Pete

The black stuff is just waxoyl - I don't like underseal or stone chip as it dries to hard and hides things.

There is a patch on the boot floor, n/s rear corner, one on the o/s front sill and one on each of the rear arches - overall the sills and arches were too good to warrant replacement. Think that's it.

Cheers
