they are cheap as the 2.2 is the worst engine out of the range 2.2 sufer from pumps timing problems and the fuel economy is very poor the list goes on. best engine out of them imo is the 150 cdti maps to around 208 great on fuel reliable

I've got one as a cheapy for the lass to run around in till her new car comes this year. Totally shite engine full stop lol. We've had no problems so far but it's slow as f*ck and gets 32mph no matter how you drive it. I blanked the EGR valve and did the cheat thing to make it think its working. It made a big difference. We've only got it as a throw away car.

2.2 has a major issue with oil path ways getting blocked, expect engine to seize or to have a problem with the chain.
CDTI - CIM module failure, expect Ł500 repair bill.

Stick with petrol as when it goes wrong you won't have a get a loan to fix it!
Matter of fact all vaux diesels are shite except the izusu 1.7td engine.

Personally I would avoid a vauxhall after 2000. They all have problems.
I wouldn't touch a tdci, only common rails I haven't heard about going wrong is the german stuff.
I tried to tell my mum not to get a 56 plate astra. 8 months later she had a Ł1700 bill.
She now doesn't trust it.

cim easy to repair and not near 500 unless main dealer
the petrol vectras are all slow and poor on fuel
the 120 cdti is shite imo but the 150's seem to be alot better
they dont make the izuzi no more and they was shite slow and ate head gaskets and german cars such as vag are not faultless they do have rail and injector faults as do all cars.
my cdti has been faultless in the 4 yrs we have owned it never had no money spent on it other than servicing wich i do myself so just service parts oil filters ect granted shit handling and interior but engine has been faultless and i know a few people with them and theres has also been gr8

Same here!
Just had a look.
2.2d dti
Still wouldn't touch it.
Give me a car I can;
1 fix in a day
2 be cheap
3 not have everything bloody coded!

Good reason I stick to older motors.

At the end of the day its up to you.
I've got an older car but then I don't care about the year of car I'm driving.
I know the only reason my daughters dad bought an 08 plate vaux was just for the image.
He drives a Zafira and just tells people its 3 years old.
I'm just waiting for it to need something doing as Its going to cost a lot.
