Default Changing Cossie steering column bushes - info needed!

As above please guys, I need as much info as possible on this, want to do it whilst my cars in bits!

How many bushes are there?
Can you still get them from Ford?
If so any finis codes?

Anyone have a rough guide to doing it?
How difficult is it?

That should be enough questions to get us going

Hopefully some on here have done it

Not difficult. Remove lower dashboard undo 4 bolts holding steering column. Undo steering joint in the engine bay pull column up inside the car change bush and put back together.

Make sure you put the bush in the right was by looking at the old 1. It is a 2 piece bush with a rubber surround but you should only need the plastic bits.

When you put the column back in make sure you line it up with the dash otherwise it will piss you off when you put it back together and youll have to readjust it.

Cheers
Dan

There is another bush as well which gets cooked by the turbo, in the engine bay section of the arm.

Thanks for the replies fellas

Has anyone used this bush kit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steering-C...item27b36e01a4

Or should I really stick to genuine bushes?

the ebay pic shoes the rubber bit that goes into the bulkhead (bottom right) the plastic bit that sits inside this (bottom left) and the bit that goes around the steering column (top middle)

what you should also consider is the round metal locking plate that goes onto the clumn before anything else and locks the plastic bush into place, it has a triangular hole in the middle but it's a little smaller than the steering column so it twists on itself and locks into place to stop the bush riding up the column

there is also a metal cover that goes over the rubber bit inside the engine bay to stop everything goes soft from the heat, but not all cars had this so it may be something you haven't got fitted already but is a worthy investment
