Noobie Bird with a question (mk5 rs2000)
Hiya guys I'm Chalky (Leanne) but I answer to most things lol
I've had loads of Fords before and then I went for an e46. I've just sold that and I'm looking at a mk5 rs2000.
My question is...
How hard is it to turbo one??
If anyones gonna give me a lil explanation then can you talk to me like I'm a 5 year old so I get it haha (I am female lol can we remember this
)
Cheers guys

Go on www.rs200016v.com there a kind of knowledge and helpful on there,to my knowledge very few RS2000's been tubrocharged as there not an easy engine to modify it has been done but I think the cost is the main thing

No experience at all on the subject of turbocharging an RS2000 but I wouldn't have thought it would be a cheap experience due to not many off the shelf parts being available. Probably a lot easier to buy a MK1 Focus RS especially as the going rate for one now is astonishingly low.
P.S. Everyone introduces themselves on Passionford with pics. So er...pics please

welcome to pf
and best option is to put a fez rs turbo engine under the bonnet
easy to do and most likley the cheapest
have a search for jimbo's old escort and take look
you could sell your rs2000 engine to make some money back to

Welcome to the forum.
RS2k is fun but the cost involved in turboing I simply wouldn't bother. I agree with the person above who suggested a Mk1 Focus RS, better car, quicker, better chassis and more tuning potential.
Watch out for the PF perverts, they should be along shortly

lots of folk will tell you lots of things, but possibly the easiest option is to go 2.3 and then after market manegement and then go from there
200 brake, cost you a grand maybe for the bits and, if you know what you are doing, could probably be up and running in a weekend

Turbocharging is do-able on the RS2000 lump, but bits aren't as common as for the Zetec engine, so it can work out a little more expensive.
It does seem to work well though. There's one in PF this month with a 2.3 turbo in it.
The other option is of course to go NA, which is also a decent route to to take on that engine, despite what some people will (wrongly) tell you.
It all very much depends on how much money you want to spend, and how many horses you want!

I'd advise removing the I4 DOHC and fitting a zetec tubro. It's easier then fannying about with the original engine. The RS2k already has a proper gearbox so you're sorted.
Oh, and have a thourough snoop around under the car as the Mk5 has a habit of rusting a bit
Welcome to PF!

hello there, get on the RS2k form all the info you will ever need about the cars and all mods, doing a turbo conversion on my one, engine has been built for for 500+bhp and has cost me around 8k so far. im from bas to. a chap called James on the RS2K has done a good turbo 2.3 conversion for about 2K pushing 200bhp with loads of torque,
zetec engine is far more turbo friendly cost wise but if you want to be diffrent the RS2K lump is a very strong and can take a beating all day long

yep signed up on there earlier, haven't had a look around on there yet though
Well im 28 and it only costs me £500 a year to insure a focus rs with mods declared and im pulling 545bhp...
My missis!!! Wont even get in it hahaha!!! Why cant she be more like you haha,
A focus rs may be the way forward for you ....
If not to turbo an rs2k with a small turbo your looking at costs of at least £1500-£2000......
