Default Cossie 4x4 After-Market Exhaust Manifold ?

Anyone using an After-Market 4x4 Stainless Exhaust Manifold ?

Is there a preferred option - I don't have enough room for a 2WD item.

Seen the Italian "Oppi" one on eBay which gives you options on Material Spec and Tube Dia. but that just lost me

Any advise would be great

Many thanks...........

Or despite him being like a broken record when it comes to Zetecs and Ian Howell, pm zetecboostboy522hp or whatever his user name is (Paul Cheshire is his real name), he seems to be pretty handy at making manifolds too.

What power are you looking for? Anything below 600 brake I wouldn't bother, the 2wd is fine, especially if you get an external waste gate set up and adapted elbow, you can get this bit from Reyland Motorsport.

allthough yes you are technically correct, sureley a proper 4 branch matched length primary manifold can be beneficial in other ways even on lower powered cars like aiding spool up, better gas speed etc... allthough as you say the standerd one isnt really a restriction until higher hp is required

hoggi, ive been through the same process and ended up doing my own,ive still got the frame for sizing it on but it still takes ages to make.
the 4into1 does rev freer but the biggest advantage is its 12kgs lighter and it fits

Think I've seen you Car/manifold either on another Forum or at the Lakes Tour.

Can't quite remember apart from it looking real good.

I've a very good Mate who's a great welder so maybe that's a option for me ?

Also just looked at the Opplinger item on ebay which looks OK.

just stay away from the xspower ones ,
my mate built a cossie mk 2 for a guy and fitted one,
had it off more times than it was on getting it welded, and was always blowing out, pure scrap,
ended up putting a std 2wd item on, but it was tight for room.
when it comes to aftermarket manifolds imo you really have to spend good money to get one thats not going to break your heart

from the turbosite as ive deleted the pics, turned out no bad and still no cracks or blowout,if i was doing it again i would get someone to cnc the flanges, takes ages doing it by hand

Is the 4x4 manifold a fair bit smaller?

I'd imagine the MkV engine bay is a fair bit bigger than the Mk1

4x4 manifold should fit no problem,

Here's a link to a mk1 build with plenty of pictures,

strange problem this too as my mk2 escort has a 2wd manifold and fits fine within at least an inch or more
clearance on inner wing

To be fair Botters, there is nothing else but the engine and manifold in your engine bay!!

true but there is nothing else that goes in the way on that side of the engine bay and its on pinto engine mounts which have put the engine 20mm over to the o/s for some reason so when its centralised as it should be there will be even more room!
