Default Focus heater hot and cold??

The heater on our 2004 focus tdci will work when you hold the revs at about 2.5k and will get hot but when idleing its luke warm and some times cold. When driving esp at speed its just cold. There is plenty of coolent in there, no leaks, system is getting to pressure no air leaking in etc. all the hoses are getting warm.

Car doesent overheat and the needle sits at halfway all the time.

All i can think is mabye the thermostat stuck open? or water pump on its way out?

Anyone else had this problem?

It could be the heater control valve if otherwise is reaching temperature or blockage, which you can easily find out.

There isn't a heater control valve as far as i'm aware.. Had to replace this on the ka we have.

I'm thinking the thermostat is stuck open, hence getting heat when holding the revs up. once it gets warm it stays warm until you drive then starts to get cold again esp when you drive 50-60+.

There is a heat valve, else there would be no way of controlling the temperature, it's just not under the bonnet, which I think the KA is?

It does sounds like a stat now your describe it further, only way is to check the temperature, which you can do from the dash LCD, halfway is normal temperature though.
