Just been watching this and it's the top 5 road/rally cars, but shocked to find out the rs200 was 5th! this was the order:

1st: Audi Quattro
2nd: lancia stratos
3rd: Subaru impreza
4th: Mitsubishi evo
5th ford rs200

can't beleive the impreza was before the rs200!!

Of course the Impreza is going to be higher! Multiple time WRC winning car and spawned the most successful road going version of a modern rally car!

 

Didnt the focus both mk1 n 2 do well in rallying.

Ford Escort Cosworth and Mk1 and mk2 Escort should be way above it surely? and they are just FORDS I am taking about!!!

I was thinking the same. Lancia Delta should be higher than RS200 too, but seeing as they already have a Lancia in the list they can't not have a Ford on a list of iconic rally cars, but I've no idea why they'd choose the RS200?! Escort Cosworth would be a much more suitable choice, but for me THE iconic rally car will always be the MK2 Escort.....

 

RS200 was plagued by reliability issues, it was never actually very successful.

Im sure given a couple more years of group b to refine the package it would have been, but as it was it just didnt ever really get to a finished enough standard IMHO

Mini should be WAY above the 200 IMHO too.

Whoever wrote that list knows fuck all about cars or rallying I reckon

You're actually expecting a programme on Discovery Turbo to be accurate and correct?

And has been said, the RS200 was hardly a success. Cool yes, but successful, no!

 

I didn't see the programme, but as it said top five road/rally cars, I'm assuming it was about cars that were supposedly a hit in rallying and with special edition road going versions. In which case I'd argue that the Stratos should be swapped for Delta Integrale too as that was more of a road car for everyday and more suited to what the programme should be about.

Just like the daily mail gives an accurate and unbiased account of the worlds goings ons, especially with regards to all those fucking immigrants.

 

iirc the shows main problem with the rs200 was the engine needing rebuild after 20hrs?

 

10 hours at full throttle. but they did only quote power figures from the evo models i.e. 600+bhp

 

Not an unusual figure at all for a competition engine.

 

now iv seen it all.
