mines up for sale 110k miles (6.5k) but i'm hoping to sell my golf so i can keep it

i wouldnt pay more than 5 for one on the register

I'm sure people buy cat c's cheep, spend allot to repair them and put them back on the road. and end up spending not much less than a straight one

Then Come resale time price then too near straight ones !

Nope, far too much for a Cat C. There was a FRS on the RSOC that went for £5000, slightly higher miles but one owner, and nothing 'unfortunate' in its history.

they do vary in conditions ALOT. i have seen some true minters that drive like dogs and some dailys that drive superbly but are covered in road rash.

check carefully for rust too, they are 10 years old now and rust like most old fords do

rear arches, front wings where they meet the bumper, underneath door mirrors, near the boot trim handle. the undersides do tend to scab up a little but nothing structural suffiers like on the old escorts/sierras.

trim wears really well, aside from a little bobbling on the alcantara, and the fact i ahve retrimmed the steering wheel you would never tll mine has done 110k, they eat up the miles, mine still runs original turbo, gearbox, if you service them (with belts) they will go on forever. mine had a new clutch around 60k and 100k.

drove it to work today and it puts a smile on my face everytime, also pulls like a train with the 4-1 manifold.

Far too expensive! One has just sold on the RSOC with 100k, 1 owner from new, FSH, completely boggo, very tidy and rust free for £5000! Nearly bought it myself as it was so cheap but have too many cars

Worth FA being a Cat C, resale value would be 5k fixed IMO and would still be a nightmare to sell.

Agree with the overpriced statements. The first question I'd want ansering is what was it Cat C'd for? Paint, panels, suspension, stolen recovered... I'd be willing to take a punt on a car that had been paint stripped, but would run a mile from a car that'd slammed up a kerb and bent the suspension.

The trouble with these cars now is that they are 10 years old and it seems rare you will find a standard one, most have been messed around with and ruined i was looking to purchase one but because of that reason ive decided to invest the money in a ST3 Focus when the time is right.
