Bought my missus a Megane R26 230 Renaultsport.


OMG how underated are these cars?
I drove it and now dont want to give it back

easy to drive
Good power for standard car
Smooth
So comfortable.

Its got suttle mods that you dont know they are there like
-miltek exhaust
-panel filter
-Forge Intercooler
-Remap (285bhp)
She dont like like it so ive been driving it and i really dont want to part with it now.

Anyone else got one?

 

Never owned one but had plenty as company cars, and i have always loved them, probably more than the new Renault sport 250

 

A friend was about to order a new one, then just found out that they are going to be bringing out a 265 version in April, so he's going to wait until then

 

The 265 is already out pal, they are also releasing a new clio williams with 240bhp..

 

When does the Clio come out? guessing it will be turbo'd

 

Still the same 2.0 n/a pal, and release date is very soon we are been told?

My brother has one of those Clio 200 things and quite frankly apart from through the twistys its incredibly gay!

...and slow.

 

you made the right choice with the Focus though

love the R26 megane but wouldnt give up my Focus for one

 

I like the way they don't stick out i like them really underated cars

 

Yes they are a hoot to drive, a friend has one and although it's not going to match a Focus RS it gets closer than most people would think....

I made the wrong choice mate, i looked at these before i got the Focus. Sorry i didn't get one & would. Id certainly be looking at the Meganes when the Focus goes.

 

I don't know what makes you think they are underated, people rave about how good they are.

 

is that 'the' focus RS or 'your' focus RS as i know you've had lots of issues with yours.

having driven both i have to say that as good as the megane 230 is i wouldnt have obne over the mk1 RS.

the new megane 250, though in black, hmmmmm but then we are at mk2 RS money so also a no brainer

 

In terms of performance is take the 265 over the mk2 FRS

 

I'd have a Megane over my Focus RS mate, but i'd also have it over the Mk2 Focus as i think there just plain ugly.

 

the Rsmk2 is a way better looking car

 

looks better and sounds better, only the megane eats it around the twistys/track

 

I never had a problem with one in a straight line mind you

 

The new megane 260, or whatever it is, is the fastest fwd production car around the 'ring!

For track days I'd take the Megane but for an everyday car I'd rather have the Focus RS mk2

 

Even though I work for Renault if I was buying i would choose the mk2 RS just because I think it looks better and will hold its value more. Saying that I've had a few 250's as my company car and they are a really good car and surprise alot of people.

IIRC Ito took a track day special Megane to beat the mk2 RS around the ring.
And thats a shitty 1 trick pony, I'd much rather have the RS as a all round fast road car.

Drove both...my mate jay has a 260... And I certainly know what I would take.

My mate has a RS Megane............had load of problems with the windows going up and down - all with a mind of their own.

Something to do with the water sealing on the electric motors within the doors.

Just something to keep an eye out for.............but apart from that a great car, and enjoy.

 

im positive, the 265 is a monster on the tracks

heres the article of it vs the new mugen civic, the lap times of the 265 speak for themselfs...

 

It's the same thing they did on top gear, the focus is a very fast family car whereas the megane is a stripped out made for the track day fanatic sort of car, so if the focus is quicker in virtually every contest you have to seriously think about that time captain slow took the Aston to hot places in Europe

I'd take the Focus purely because the Megane isn't raw enough for the compromises, however quick it is.

I've got an R26 and a Clio 172 Cup, both great cars on and off the track

Agree. That and the 458 Italia are the standout times for me.

The top two are insanely fast. Just shows what REAL downforce does!

I was actually there on the day they timed the Cayenne

 

Its a renault it wikl fall apart in a few months.
