Default aftermarket managment on diesel?

Hey all just a quick one havent really fought about this before as dont really know much about diesel's. My freind wants to put a modern diesel engine in a kitcar, would standard aftermarket ecus such as omex, haltech, motec etc be able to run a a common rail diesel ?

No. They need very specific control of pre, main and post injection. The control is what gives these engines their power and economy. You need to transplant the original ECU too.

there a few ECU;s out there that can do this now,
but very few mappers who will take on the mapping phase...

mapping a diesel from scratch is soso time consuming, timing can be altered down to 1:10th of a degree,

mapping costs would probably cost more than the rest of the build...

Adaptronic have done it with their E1280s ecu, although I think it needs an injector driver.

For a UK based solution, John at Specialist Components has done a few diesels. Give him a shout.
