Default ..::PLEASE READ. New Rules and Webteam in place::..

Evening folks

Interesting PF Facts:
We are just over 18mths old.

We have now exceeded 42million Hits per month

We have 1.3 MILLION topics.

We have 9841 Members.

You post 1599.89 post per day on average.

We gain 27 new members per day on average.

Our uncompressed database is over 1.2 gigabyte in size

Our peak online membership was 551 last tuesday night.

Our "average online" is over 300 now.

However..
This popularity is causing its own problems now, and as i see it, the main one is that General discussion is becoming TOO busy at times.

On Sunday night, general discussion shifted a full page of 40 topics in 16mins. This is a new Record!!

This means in sixteen minutes a new post has left teh top of page 1 and gone 51 topics down the page and onto page 2. This isnt good for newcomers asking questions as they often PM me wanting to know why their post was deleted, when in fact its just pages away. I want to find a solution to this, so as you may or may not have noticed, we now have 10 new moderators to help us look after the place

The reason we have done this is to give the general discussion moderators a well earned break from the other 43 rooms And to introduce a new focused webteam with only 4 rooms each to look after. This should mean that:

1) General Discussion is better moderated.
2) The other rooms are better moderated too.
3) Each room now has a personal touch with one or two mods being solely responsible for its upkeep.

As a direct result of these webteam changes, you will now notice that the posts in general discussion get moved to more suitable rooms far more frequently than they did before, so if a post dissapears, dont think to yourself:
"Im going to make a post and kick off"

Instead.. Think to yourself:
"What room should it really have been put in?"
And go and look there

Hopefully, this will make PassionFord a better place to use and will allow you to spend your time here more productively. If a topic is literally about Escort Cosworths, lets have it in the Escort Cosworth room eh?

As with everything, this is essentially a trial period, and if we find we dont like it, then hey, we will simply look at alternative ways to play teh game we all love

We need to be ready to tackle further traffic better and more efficiently, and this is the first step in my eyes, so i hope we have your support folks

can i also add ... there are still alot of sig sizes over the 25k limit .. i for one will be asking people nicely to adjust em .. im sure stu has better things to do other than delete the sig facility .. just trying to help out the dialup users

use: http://209.152.168.197/~webmask/gifoptimize/

Just imput your file if its under 60k either as a location on the web or your PC. Once optimised pick the lowest filesize decent looking pic, right click it and save to your PC.

Then upload the new pic to your photobucket account and change your Profile to reflect the new pic.
If you dont have a photobucket account use http://tinypic.com no account is necessary. Use the tag starting [IMG] as normal

hope this helps

Keep up the good work folks and I'm sure things will continue to move along nicely. As for 1600 posts a day,

Ban Phil and see how much that average drops

(Only a joke before anyone starts!)

Nice job guys, but I just gotta say, Graceland has to be a questionable mod

Stu, a suggestion for you and Pet to consider.....

On many forums, there is a button on each post you read, that goes along the lines of "report this post to a moderator", and it alerts all the mods who can deal with it..........would perhaps make life easier on everyone; webteam are alerted to posts and thus moderation is easier, and sometimes its a nightmare trying to find a mod to get a post moderated when thigns get out of hand!

Just a suggestion, but great changes....

Irritating innit? am dreading the thought of a full page of shadows

The have been left to make us think 'is there an area that I could have posted other than the General Area?' and the moved to location give us an idea of where future post of a similar nature should be

HTH

Some BB's seem to have a "Topic Title - Moved To: Such'n'such Forum" and when you click on the link, it direct links to the new forum with the post in it.

Wouldn't this save the hunting around? I think the Rs BB does it?

I think people's sigs are too big. One line of text, disappears into 2 inches of banners under the name.

i think its a great idea as i very rarely post in the general section as the topics move to fast and they often get overlooked
