I have a problem with a MK3 Ford monde TDCI Automatic its driving in 4th gear all the time and when ford Read the codes it came up with

P1700 Transmission intermidiate failure (failed to neutral)

What does that Mean ???? Any ideas i have done a serach and come up with sweet sod all even ford had no idea..

The speedo also does not work but i have been told thats not related at all..

Any help woudl be very helpfull

or even where to start to look...

I have another ford mondeo TDCI manual thats had a rear end smash and if it comes to it i will just change the auto to a manual..

but to be honest do not want to go tho that hassle...
