engine management light was on so asking them to sort that out before i take it, car was running nicely with not taps or odd sounds.

Engine management light on when the car is allready on sale? NOT a good sign.
Suspect a defective catalyst. That will not show up as a fault code untill you have driven the car several hundred miles. Also suspect removal of the engine light, so check if it will lit when you switch on the ignition, after they have sorted it out.

thanks for the reply, i was thinking that or a lamba sensor maybe, will be checking it out that it lights up when the key is turned to, car is in good condition but my deposit and sale of the car to me is subject to this being sorted plus they supply 3moths warranty

If a seller is to supply warranty, one would expect the problems to be repaired before someone looks over the car. That might sell the car a lot easier. You have to repair it anyway because of the warranty.
Only 3 months warranty seems short to me, but I don't live in the UK. Worth checking what the time-length of the average warranty is.
Take great care here. I would do a code read for all systems and an exhaust gas analysis - in my presence - before deciding if I would want to buy the car.
I have seen ABS lamps connected to the oil pressure switch and those kind of things.
