Hello. Does anyone run gas golds for road use . Mine are a bit too hard for the bumpy roads and am thinking of some softer springs. I'm considering going back to konis and bayjo springs but if I can get it to drive nice on these ill keep them. Even on the motorway anything other than smooth roads it pulls through any dips causing me to back right off.
Just wondered what others have and what you think about them

I prefer my gaz golds over the konis and ahmeds I had before. I run 350 lb front and 180 rear mate.

 

Mine have 450/325 I'm trying them but think I'll be dropping slightly eventually!

I think mine are 400 something front and 225 rear I tried the 275 rear first and was solid but even the 225 are too hard and I think it is just the rears that are the problem but I'll give the softer ones above a go I think. Thanks for the help.

 

What did Gaz supply on the non gold kit's as thats what i have and have no idea if they are suited to a 3dr?

 

I think they use the same rates on both as std. My mate had the std gas kit on his 4x4 and were really good on that with the std kit springs. Mine feels too bumpy at speed. Even where I've had to back right off the throttle when having a tear up with a mate in his escos and he stayed flat out. 4th gear and a few humps in the road and the back end started to come round on me. I shit myself

 

I race my car on 550 front 275 rear so for road use you'd want a lot softer than that. It's not supposed to be on the road as it isn't MOTd or taxed but when I've driven it on the road it feels rock hard and drives like a skateboard over bumps.

That sounds about right for fast road use.

 

What rate springs do you have in them? The good news is that to change them is a few minute job per corner.

I think they are something like 450 front and 225 rear. I have some 275 rear that were horrible on the road and 700 fronts that I never tried. I'll go with the softer ones above and see how I get on.

 

i've got 450 front and 350 back. For road use it's just too much... I just cant go past 100mph it scares the hell out of me. Uk roads are better but even so... On the other hand, driving it on a track is just an incredible feeling. It feels very, very sharp.

I'de recon 350 front and 180 back, like KSA-Cossie said, would be a very good compromise.

 

I wish i knew exactly what mine are as they are perfect for fast road use, even on bumpy surfaces.

IIRC the dampers are something like 300/90 and the springs around 400lb springs for the front.

Really have no idea what the rears are though. I'd liken the ride to a modern sports car, its similar to a mk2 Focus RS.

 

hi.. does anyone know who can supply springs for the gaz golds.. been trying to call them all day and no answer... emailed them also so ill keep waiting on that.. found corby motorsport do them but fooked if im paying 50 quid a spring id rather keep the ones i have.
any ideas..?

Sorry mate,I specced them when I bought my gaz golds,he did say he could get any poundage I wanted if mine were too hard,best to call them tbh.

 

Ordered some today direct from gaz 20 quid each that's more like it.
Hope they make the car nicer to drive
