ford only done 1 shade of mercury grey.
nimbus grey was made on S2 from 86 to 87 then mercury grey to over.
I used to own a nimbus grey S2 on a D plate very rare only seen 1 other S2 the same colour

Good question....my D reg grey RST says Mercury on the tags but doesn't look like any other mercury grey RST (and doesn't match touch up pens etc...) Could it be Nimbus (and no its not had a respray btw)

as above theres about 7-8 different shades, take your car to the paint shop and try and match it... I couldnt match mine properly, so I just had it totally re-sprayed!

I've been out today and manage to get hold of a bonnet that's not to far out a match on the rest of the car I've got 
so seems like I've had a result by the sound of it
