as topic,for example will et 18 work on a low escort mk5-6??

Doubt it! You'll want it in the 40's, might get away with high 30's, but et18 will definately give you bother.

No, I had 7x17 et35 comp mo6 and with. 205/40/17 and with hard driving they would catch the inner arch liner on front and rear arch lip if not rolled

I then had 7.5x17 dymags with 205/40/17 r888s which came up 212 mm wide and were fine on the front with stiff suspension and the rears caught with passengers even with the arches trimmed right back

7x17 et38-40 would be idea

ok thanx guys,rims i looked on was from a puma,fitting big brakes and needing a extra set of rims for winter tyres

Have a look at www.alloyguide.com, will give you info on offsets etc for a range of different cars.

that offset is for french fodder cars, needs to be et35-to 43 , mine are et40 and I dont have any rubbing at all running 205/40s

ok scored a new set of 7X17 ace diva rims for 212Ł !! now my problem nr 2 is tyres,only winter tyres in 205/40 are michelin and they are a fortune,any idea if 215/45 will fit?? people seem to run 8X18 so my guess is yes it fits but can rub??

what about 205/50??
they are 3% taller than the 215 but being less wide maybe can work??
