Default ST170 Steering rack- New or second hand replacement?

My Focus has been absolutely trouble free in the time ive owned it until this years MOT which it failed on 2 brake pipes and a leaking steering rack. Now we plan to keep the car as a 2nd family car as its in great nick but I cant deide whether to replace it with a 2nd hand rack from a breakers (about £85) or a brand new rack from a motor factors (£200).

What are peoples thoughts?

Are you fitting it yourself? If so probably take a punt on a 2nd hand item, if paying a garage get the new 1 as it will have a years guarantee

Nah, im way too lazy to fit it myself. I know someone at ford that will fit it and set tracking for £80. Its not even worth me wiping the dust off my tool box at that price!

No point using a 2nd hand one on a focus it's a common problem and a horrible job do it properly and it will last another 6 - 10 yrs do it wrong and you will be asking the question again ina couple of years.
