Default Following on from buckled alloy

Right been down to a local alloy wheel repair place and he didn't even have the wheel 5 minutes before he said to me it cannot be repaired. The whole alloy is buckled from the centre and whilst it is invisible to the eye, is why it can't keep air in and leaks out of probably a high spot out the inner side wall.

My only option now is to get the alloy that I have as a spare welded and re drilled to 4x108 as it currently is 4x100. Does anyone know who can weld and re drill it for me or alternatively where I can get my hubs and brake discs redrilled to 4x100 pcd.

Any help appreciated. And local council will be getting a stinging letter sent from me about the damage.

Thanks.

What alloys are they? Are they that rare or important you can't just get another set and then try get some money back from the council ?

they can do almost anything these days. im sure a buckled wheel can be repaired by the right people without to much fuss.

I am thinking of taking it somewhere else for a second opinion but he seemed fairly sure it was unsafe to repair. The issue is I am going to be selling the car in a few months time so getting a new set of a bit of a waste of money especially as claiming off the council is far from guaranteed. I do have a spare alloy as said that is the wrong pcd so I either want to get that welded or redrilled or get my hub and brake disc redrilled to suit. Seems to be fairly common on the V-Dub scene.

Imagine the faff of having to drill it all over again when the discs and pads need to be changed. Where abouts in the world are you? You need to have a word with a company called Lepsons as they can work wonders on fooked wheels.

Would it not be easier to get the tyre off and courier it down to them?

It was

I found out about them by accident one of my workmates has a Ferrari 308 GT4 and is into his motors and said a few friends have used him although he hasn't. Easiest Lepsons to get to from our ends probably is Wiltshere but if needs must...

Just been on the phone to a good friend of mine who is into the V Dub scene big time and got a few contacts off him of people that specialise in redrilling wheels because apparently this is common amongst the VW boys to get 5x112 or 5x114 from Merc/BMW/Audi/Porsche wheels re drilled to 4x100.

Offending hole on the A10 going up towards Tottenham from Great Cambridge Roundabout not the A406 as I originally thought it was. Nearly got myself run over twice trying to take these. You can see they've repaired it before and done a shit job and it's fucked again. Got loads more pics but you will get the idea.

5" deep crater more like and over 3ft long!

Nothing bad to say against em, but they're pricey for their work, couple mates been slightly fleeced...

If it's temporary, and I'm not a fan unless they're solid, you could get a thin spacer kit that changes the offset; 100 to 108 is nothin really, saves the hassle of redrilling. Just a thought.

Yea Wiltshere not too bad of a trek... nip up the M4, put the petrol money on top of the repair you'll still have enough for some Nando's on the way back. KO you're getting the bus home

I've looked at spacers and I can't find any single units, and they space the wheel by at least 15mm so its a bit of a dead end atm. Either get this one repaired somehow or get my other one redrilled.

Fair enough... good luck with it. Think I know that offending pothole!, just before White Hart lane crosses the A10?
