Default Mondeo MOT fail... UPDATE

Update!? Swapped the m,aster cylinder and the shoes today and a marked improvement!!, bled the system and took it out for a test, runs lovely and brakes perfectly,

Now, handbrake is self adjusting at the lever and has 9 clicks, only holds at 7, if it is self adjusting how can I get it to work like normal??

Also, when i got back from said test, I was reading that the handbrake was self adjusting and that you need to use it a few times to remove some of the slack, but whilst sitting there engaging and releasing the handbrake, the whole brake system locked up :S I had to release pressure at the bleed valves, the release the rear self adjuster to get the brakes to work normally, what has caused this so I dont get it again!!

Cheers.

slacken off the rears again then refit

use the footbrake to pump the fluid into the system so that the wheels stop turning

THEN use the handbrake to do handbrake stuff

Seems like your trying to do the handbrake before the pedal braking system, as said leave the handbrake until last, slacken the handbrake right off, bleed the system so that when you put your foot on the brake the wheels stop turning, then tighten up the handbrake, but don't go mad to the point where you literally touch the handbrake and it rips the rear beam off the car, they only have to have a firm bite/hold.. think mine passed on 70% or something when it previously failed on 21%...

Ok, still didnt work, even put new lines on the front to make sure they werent collapsed inside and causing a blockage. some has suggested the master cylinder could be faulty even though it is new, any other suggestions??

The auto adjuster in the handbrake works on the lever and not at the calipers end so try disconnecting the handbrake and see if that works
