it seems the gear box in the wifes gti has shit its self for no reason what so ever

put my foot on the clutch peddle and can get every gear with out any issue
when i lift my foot off the clutch peddle there is a grinding type noise coming from the box

it also has no drive

there was no bang or anything just revved up and makes said grinding noises

what am i looking at to get the box rebuilt but i know it depends whats wrong with it

oh and it has had a clutch so dont think its that due to the grinding

Just get another box mate. V common box so cheap to get lol

turned out to be a broken drive shaft

the outer cv joint had fell apart hence no drive lol

115 quid later for a new shaft fitted this morning and then got 42 quid back on a ser charge

so its back on the road

 

and as for the box being a common problem

speaking to my brother and mate they told me to put engine oil init and not the recommended oil as the boxes in the 1.8 zetec dont like it

hence why they shit them selfs
