Default privet reg removel, no tax or mot. cant it be done?

i am shortly going to be braking down my 4x4 saph and transplanting the donky and a few bis and peces in to a rwd car. but i would like 2 remove the plate from the car and eather sell it with the bits and peces from the 4x4 as there will be a lot of unwanted parts. or pun it on the new car.
so what im asking is can it be removed with out a mot or tax on the car? bin told it needs to be road legal to be taken off. i have v5 and only ran out of tax at begining of the month. please help thanks

It's true, I know someone on here that literally had to build up his Saph from a bare shell so that he could get an MOT on it because he could only remove his personal plate once that was done.

If the car has been taxed/MOT'd within the last 6 months it'll be fine. It does not have to have current MOT and tax. Outwith 6 months becomes more difficult.

Someone else on here managed to get a plate off a car that had been on it for years by going to the dvla and explaining the situation that the engine was fucked and the car would probably never be put back on the road. In return he was allowed to keep the plate if he made sure the rest of the car was crushed afterwards.

Removed the pp from my wifes car on Wednesday and have transfered it to my car. The wifes car has been off the road for nearly a year and the wife cashed her tax in and sorned the car when the vehicle was put off the road. She had a year from the start of the sorn to transfer the plate, no tax, insurance or MoT required for the vehicle the registration was removed from. As long as we transfered the plate before the year was up we did not need to tax, MoT and insure the vehicle prior to the transfer.

Check the rgulations and dont go by hear say.
