Default Ford Ranger Buying Advice

I need a pick up and am thinking of buying a Ford Ranger 2.5 Diesel.Any advice or pitfalls to look out for please ?? I am looking at prod a 2005 to 2008 2.5 Diesel. Last pick up i had was a nightmare ( Mitsushity L200) with blown head gasket then cracked head. So any advice much appreciated.

Cheers for reply, glad someone did. Not seen a 3.0L for sale but will have a look. My main concern is any engine probs as i not got the time or space these days for engine removals and rebuilds. Def want to get one before the snow comes so i can have some fun
