I think the Vito has a very low weight tow capability?

Your van will have a plate on it that states the max braked or un-braked train weight, which is the trailor, the car thats on the trailor and the vans weight.

For example, my Connect LWB has a gross train weight of 3200kgs iirc, and the vans gross weight is 2200kgs, which leaves 800kg braked.

Most trailors are around 500kg, so that would leave me 300kg of 'cargo' to put on the trailor

Thats not bad

Must have been the un-braked weight I was thinking of, as this shows it to be 750kg

i hired a twin-axle with an escort mk6/7 pulling, the chap asked what i was moving, i said a tigra mk1, he said technically your over the weight your allowed to pull,
so basically you cant tow a trailer with the same vehicle on the trailer that youre towing with

Unbraked weight is the same for any vehicle.

thanks for responce, made things clear for me..
thanks ajc, was thinking of getting a e300 as its cheep from a friend. it was his mums car so is mint. noticed it had a toe bar in boot so was thinking, could i use it 2 pull the saph to oulton park for winter track days. as it might be better than asking the boss if im ok 2 use the van. i new the van can pull it no bother but wasnt shaw if the car was leagal, to do so. thanks again all
