Question Been looking at Audi's, what does s line give you?

Hello,

So ive been looking at a Audi A3 170 tdi sportback but then there is all that with s line on the end.

It is just leather seats and maybe different alloys? Oh and also 2K on the price.

Cheers.

think so mate, its just trim and coulour i think! have a good shot of one before u jump in and buy one,i got a 61 plate A3 for a company car (140bhp) and im really not too fussed on it! its quite small, slow and boring! looks the dogs bollocks from the front imo but thats where it kinda ends for me. i'm hoping it grows on me yet since ive only had it just over a month
everyone to their own like but if i was spending in the region of 23k it wouldnt be on that

I did test drive a 170 bhp and i was impressed with the power for a derv.

I can see what you mean by small as i need the seat back there is no room for anyone in the back.

Ive been looking at ones around 06-07 plate.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...61px?logcode=p

That kinda one. At near 50 MPG and 0-60 8.2 seconds (on paper) also then i hear of remaps to 200 BHP it does seem like a car to go for.

So the sportback would have a sport steering wheel but the sportback s-line will have a more sporty one for example?

i am considering a remap for mine, ive not driven the 170bhp but the 140 is pretty shit. you're right tho with the mpg,ive not checked properly but i think i must be near 60mpg. mine is the 5 door and my 2 year old complains about the leg room in the back when shes in her seat lol

I have an A3 S-line, its a bit like the difference between an escort 1.6 and an escort Xr3i, it is basically the sporty model. Better exterior styling with larger alloys, s-line bumpers etc and then much better interior trim, nicer steering wheel, s-line seats.

Then on top of that you can pick them up with lots of additiona extra's.

Mine has:

Exterior:
S-line body styling with agressive styled front bumper
Auto Xenon headlights with follow me home function
Auto wipers
Headlamp washer jets
Audi vortex side skirts (rare sort after option)
Rear parking sensors
heated electric door mirrors
S-line sill kick plates
18" BBS slit rims

Interior:
Bose sound system
S-Line embossed half leather seats
Multi function S-Line steering wheel (stereo and phone controls)
In-dash 6 disc cd changer
Dual climate control
Auto dimming interior mirror
Underseat storage compartments
Fitted mats front and rear
passenger footwell and seat back cargo nets
Arm rest with storage compartment
Courtesy lights
dual vanity mirrors with lights
Drivers Information system
Aluminium inlays
Auto door lock
Parcel shelf sun screen
12v socket in boot
One touch electric windows etc

Depends what you want in a car, some of my mates are happy it goes from a to be and couldnt care less if it had nice bumpers, where as I prefer something that looks good and so am happy to pay extra or the extra's.

I wouldn't say so, if you are into cars then you want to own something you enjoy, if you arent then you just want it to do a job. Just like anything else in life, if you are into it, you appreciate the differences.

I was going to say similar - sorry.

It used to be the BMW drivers, but now, if someone is driving like a cock it's almost guaranteed to be an Audi. Shame, because they are nice enough cars.

As long as you're OK with that then go for it S-line will always be the nicer car - all round really, it's just if you want to spend the money or not.

Have a look at the S-Line Black edition, its higher spec than the standard s-line. As with all prestige its mostly about options, and they cost a lot!

In all seriousness, drive a bmw 1 series M-sport. They are higher spec and much nicer to drive.
I have a 1 series and my sister has the new A3 S-line and we both agree that the beamer is better equipt and a nicer drive. Just silly things like auto dimming mirror etc. That stuff makes a difference!

I am finding the beemers lower specc'd?? looking round for a 1 series coupe at the moment and it seems really difficult to find well specc'd cars.

Have to agree that the ride in the bm is smoother than the A3 but found they feel less planted and also seemed a good deal smaller than the A3, 100% true that every drug dealer and wannabe bad boy seems to be driving an Audi nower days.

Dont ask me why or how come but i just dont like the loo of the BMW's hatchback alternative.

Does the audi not have auto light, mirrors and window wipers?

No it doesn't none of the auto stuff is included, I know what you mean because to be honest I prefer the look of the Audi.

The DRL's aren't even included on the s-line (those bright lights that are on all the time)
I also found that you sit really high up in the A3. Give the BMW a try just to compare. But also try a few others because it's a lot of money to regret later on

I did try the GT TDi golf at 140 bhp and did really like that alot but i did test drive both cars at the same time to compare.

The Audi came on top! I might give the BMW a try but like you said it is the looks they give, there is just something not right.

I know it is alot of money to regret later on but even the misses has her heart on the Audi! My best car has been a 56 plate focus titanium so the Audi is like a rolls royce to me (even though the focus had auto everything)

Any other cars to to suggest? Got to be diesel thats got a good kick to it.

Audi A3 170 tdi
Golf GT 150 tdi
Maybe a BMW 1 M-sport

Thats all my list

I mean how cool and PHAT does this look!

Just look at the milage though!! It does look pretty good though!

You will miss the telephone prep you get in the focus.

Here's mine.... I dont think it's too bad for a 1 series

S Lines are a nice upgrade over standard, you just have to remember almost everything is an option! I had an 06 A4 S-line and it essentially added a more agressive front bumper, colour coded rear splitter, a slight lip on the boot, boot pop, lower suspension, nice steering wheel, metal or piano black trim, instead of wood, bettter alloys and nicer seats. Everything else was still an optional extra. That includes auto lights, electric seats and bose. For me it was closer to the difference between the old mondeo tit x and ST. Good car, loved mine to bits.
