Default st170 engine into mk4 escort

hi, I'm looking at putting an st170 engine in my mk4 escort with the rs2000 gearbox. does anyone know if this is a huge job or is it similar to fitting a zetec turbo. i will be using weber carbs so don't need to worry about the loom and stuff. thanks

^ that's what my engine bay on the manj needs to look like!

A standard st170 engine is a good conversion. Mine has the 6 speed box but that requires some jiggery pokery with the braking system (or a modified linkage iirc).

what kind of mods do you need as I've been told you need a gear box mount mod and a alternator mod. I'm not having a turbo but that engine bay looks sick.

I run an ST170 lump in mine, got an S2 RST box which does the job fine (has survived track days, rolling road, 1/4 mile etc)

Have to do a bit of modding to engine mount on driver side inner wing - I see crazycage has done it a bit different to mine but looks nice and strong

I'm running a cvh alternator with Zetec pulley - never had a problem with it either. Few pics in my sig that may be able to help.

I'm testing MS3 at the moment with full closed loop VVT control.
