Rust the only real issue, cvh is tough as old boots but you'll be wanting to zetec it as it's apparently a very easy conversion for a few hundred ŁŁŁ.
Price wise like any old ford that's survived this long they command a premium,a grand only getting you a complete nail really unless the seller knows nothing.
I found them slow even back in the 90's but the handlings superb, interior basic but recaros sort that out and to me the stylings pretty spot on,perhaps some different wheels if that's your bag but id leave totally standard otherwise.
Good little cars, but no longer the cheap and cheerful Chavmobiles they were back when I was a boy!!!!

I would pay upto 2 grand for the right one. One consideration is to look at the ones for sale in the motorsport section on pistonheads at the moment, theres quite a few and you know that body wise they should be spot on!

What about this baby?
Nowhere near you but if you flew down and struck a deal, fly back I'd drive it back up for you,I go between Swansea and Aberdeen every month.
Not sure where you are in Scotland though?

Xr2's are great, a little biased though.
As standard fairly slow really, zetec slammed in for a couple of hundred quid though.
Or do what I did and zetec turbo it, bit overkill though for daily abuse.
Prices have shot up in the last couple of years, expect a tidy one to cost Ł1500-Ł2000.

The green one is nice but not keen on rollover bars and stripped out interior.

Why did he paint it racing green?it looks dreadful, especially on a mint car like that.
I know what you mean about red cars, they do look pretty when nice and shiny.
This is my 328i cab in Ferrari 3009 red, looks great on a sunny day, which sadly this pic wasn't taken on!!!

I think the green looks pretty good to be honest. I considered doing mine green or jewel violet.... Ended up blue though.
I think when you think about a mk2 xr2 in your head it always seems to be red... Sometimes it's nice to be different.
