My new MK2 Escort 5dr Project
Heya guys, Just joined up to the forum in aid of a bit of help with my new project!
Due to the recent passing of my granddad ive been left his old MK2 Escort which has sat for a good few years! Sadly its a 1.3 5door and auto
I'm really a bike lad but am taking a back-seat from MX due to re-occurring injuries.. So the bikes are going and this looks to be my new toy!
Really don't know where to start with her, There is surface rust (alot on the roof) but NO holes! She hadnt been started for a good 4 years or so untill earlier, recharge of the battery and some fresh petty and she fired up alright..
Main problems are really the bodywork/old interior and the auto!
Hopefully i can get a bit of advice and inspiration off here with here!

Hi and welcome!
Looks reasonably solid pal, ditch the 1.3, if you like old school then stick a Pinto in it, personally I'd be looking at a Zetec turbo. Plenty of fun to be had in that

the pinto with 4 or five speed should go in ok with auto tunnel will need alloy sump or wcxm standard sump hits the cross member any advice you need just ask

Heya guys; Not much real progress so far.. Been busy trying to sell some of the bikes!
Found a couple of rust holes which will be cut out and welded over during the week when i can borrow a MIG off someone.
Are the 5dr's ever used in rally/track days? It seems hard to find pics of them for a little inspiration. My friends just donated me a Elevo quick release wheel boss and i do like the idea of it being a track day car for poodling around in but cant quiet see it..
Has anyone got any pics of what theyve done to theres or others?

im on the look out for one myself. If it were mine, i wouldnt track prep it, id stick a nice set of 13" superlights on it, give it a nice drop and just roll with the pinto under the hood

Cool mate, defo go for the pinto, 4-doors are realy picking up now mate! loads of looks to go for, ave just done one for my mate! its a hand full and tons of fun

all about the 4 doors mate go 3" tho with 13x8 and for the auto its a good couple of days work if you havent done it before you need a type 9 7.5" pinto clutch clutch cable speedo manual pedal box use origanal gearbox mount and prop join inhibitor switch back together lengthen hole back 2-3" and a quickshift oh and a crossflow manual flywheel as the auto runs a driveplate hope this helps. or you could sell to me hahaha
