Default Insurance. 21 y/o. Ban. best options?

Hey guys. Im nearly off my ban and want to get another car and get rid of this gay moped

Been waitin 2 long ass years, now its time.

Does anyone know where i can get cheap ( ish ) quotes with a ban, or classic insurance? i have no no claims and never held a license, but would REALLY like to be able to get an xr2/3 or an rst on a classic policy , anyone point me in the right direction for the best quotes ? ?

Thanks

Warren, they give you a licence, then they ban you and take it away

Good luck with getting insured on anything to be honest. Best advice is put a low risk driver on as a named driver on the policy (with you still being main driver) as that brings it down a lot).

Just use the insurance comparison sites (I find confused comes back with the cheapest for me) and go from there.

nah iv never even had a provisional, i fucked it all up proper lol..
but the moped was just a lil runaround thing for when i come off my ban ( 26 days now ) to get around on for couple months till iv saved up for a car...160 quid a year to insure sounds good to me...

just thought if anyone had any recommendations of who to ring for good prices etc... im going to have my mum and stepdad on the policy too if possible.. both been driving for 30+ years with clean license's and no points... so might catch a break there... or would that not work ?? even with a classic policy on a lower litre escort/fiesta ?

insurance companies arent stupid, having your history with motoring they will know you are going to be the main driver of any car you try to insure, and your just trying to get the premium down by adding named drivers

just get something basic non flashy to get your 1st years no claims discount, dont drive it like a tw*t either, you dont want to be upsetting the insurance company with points for silly little things

but good luck, we all deserve a second chance

i know but i thought it might drop the price at least a little bit... obviously if you can get it cheaper why not try, if i fail, ill just have to have my own policy,,and pay the extraa,

im hoping to get a 1.1 mk3 fiesta an fit an si kit, a 1.4 si... or a mk5 1.4 scort... can i use a 1 year no claims if i was riding moped for a year, and use that for a car, or is that a whole different kettle of fish ??

also is it possible to get classic policy at my age and with 'convictions'.. ?

cheers though

yeah but i thought that you said you didn't ride it, if you did, you said that you didnt have a licence, which means you didnt have insurance, so how can you have a no claims dicount

dont boy race it up, keep it standard, youll get cheaper insurance

nooo lol.. i have had the ped for about 2 years just been sitting there and when i looked at car insurance it was so dear, so i started fixing it up bit by bit, and now it only needs a couple of minor things so i was thinking of riding it Legal gettin it taxed mot'd etc, and riding that for a year getting a no claims, and thn get a car and transfer the 1 year no claims onto the car policy? or am i proper off the boat or does it not work like that ??

just want another 5 door fiesta si to be honest, i miss my last one lol

reckon that would be expensive ?

a young guy at work is the same age as you, he had very similar convictions,

driving without a licence, driving whilst banned no insurance. basicly a big list.
he has passed his test 2months ago and is now insured on a mk4 golf 1.4 for Ł875 tpft,
he was getting quotes of 5k but added his girlfriend as a named driver and it dropped dramaticly for some reason so maybe try adding your partner or falling that your mum

dont think you insurance on the bike would carry over to the car my mate has a ZXR750 then got a winter hack a citrone Ax the insurance company did not carry over the year or so he had been riding but if he had gone from car to bike they would have.

My previous post suggested you still are the main driver on the policy, but put your mum or sometone on as a named driver, this can dramatically reduce the premium.

To do it the other way round (your mum as the main driver and you added on as a named driver) is illegal if it's you that owns the car and it's you that drives it most of the time.

your still going to get bum raped i reckon.

your the highest risk driver group AND the highest risk convictions for that group. on paper your the same as the joyriding/TWOC lot, who cost insurance companies millions and millions in claims when it goes wrong.

until youve got some history behind you that says "he wont run from the police and cause Ł100k of damage in the chase", you will continue to get fucked by insurers.

well it was put down as twoc...not the usual tho, was just bored one night so took stepdads car out, police put te lights on and being banned, i kinda panicked n drove up the road so basically a 2min chase from the rozzers then jumped out and ran off.. driving whilst disqualified and 'stealing' a car'. ..i confessed to everything obviously..

Dumb move.

Just go on confused and start filling the details in. The problem is it might not come back with any quotes as they will want to do a verbal check i'd imagine. I did my insurance then added drivers etc till the quote was the cheapest. Halved mine by adding a couple of people.

i tried confused and it was rather dear.... cough * 5k........

go compare wasnt much use either i got it down to about 2.8k.. still too much to pay to drive a car 3/4 times a week for a year....

Would i get a better price if i were to ring a company instead of doing quotes on intaweb... ?

you're going to get fucked up, but try insurance companies that specialise in high risk drivers such as Adrian Flux... failing that i hear the tingly one from Durex is pretty good

**Just got a quote from the comparison site, and elephant were the cheapest.. they 'say' they will want Ł1700 of my english pounds to insure a 1999 1.6 Escort Finesse, 3rd party, fire n theft.. with 2 named drivers with clean licenses for over 30 years...

Is that a fair price considering the circumstances ? i was quite chuffed tbh lol

Ive got an agreed value of 2k though as its probably one of the best you'd find!

On cars like xr3i/xr2's i think you'd be lucky to get a quote under 2k tbh!

oh fair enoughh..

just got quoted 2.3k for an xr3i... but yesterday i got quoted 2k for an escort rs turbo.. it does seem that the lowe litres are alot cheaper..but i hate being in a slow car lol.. might have to settle for a 1.4 mk5 escort then. 1.3k to insure isnt bad overall
