Default Bodywork gurus - Paint systems for metal and plastic bodywork?

I’ve got some panels I need to spray, 2 doors, 2 wings, 4 steel wheels, mirror covers, door handles etc. In the past I’d done the plastic parts with Holts acrylic cans, plastic primer, high build filler primer and then gloss (it’s flat white) and some other panels with 2k white, Upol #11 on the bare metal, then primer and gloss (using an airfed mask etc).

What I need is a compatible system so I can buy primer and gloss to do the lot the same colour, but I need a compatible plastic primer and etch primer to cover the two substrates. Been looking on Ebay but not sure what’s acceptable to use with what!

I’ve got a decent sized compressor and an air fed mask if necessary but 2k doesn’t seem like a clever option, what’s good to use now?

Finally, and I know it’s difficult, but I’d prefer not to be spending an absolute fortune on paint so something mainstream and inexpensive rather than cheap would be great!

Cheers

2k's fine fella, gives a great finish and it seems you know how to use it.

As for primer, acid etch in a can to cover bare metal just before you paint is fine, just helps the 2k bond.

Get 1k plastic primer in a tin, goes straight on from memory, available in any paintshop mate, all the directions are on the tin,it lasts years.

One thing if your using an air fed mask and gun your compressor needs to be up to the Job as the pair will chew through air.

Not suggesting cans, was thinking more of the new waterbased stuff?

Compressor is a 3hp 3 phase affair.
