Default boooooooooooooooooooom

ok guys,
the bb project went boom on sunday

conrod on pot 2 snapped and blew a hole in the front of the block whilst i was convoying to donington rs national day.
this made all the oil hit the hot turbo, and engine bay burst into flames.
i had a fire extinguisher with me but due to the heat shield on the fron of the car,i couldnt get to the fire to put it out.
Fire extinguisher ran out whilst the fire was still blazing,so i had to go the boot, get an adjustable spanner and undo the 3 bolts holding the shield on as fast as i could to allow access to the fire.
Luckily i had some cans of coke and a bottle of orange, which i used to put the fire out.
without them,i would have definately lost the whole car to fire.

yesterday i went to assess the damage.
only went for a look and ended up removing everything except the bottom end.
bay is now completely stripped.
conrod snapped, the piston hit the inlet valve on number 2 and damaged it slightly, bottom boost hose is fire damaged,so is some of the wiring, but all in all i got off lightly as i could have easily lost the whole car to the fire.

ive been looking to upgrade the engine for some time now,so its forced me to make a decision.

Ive decided to build a 2.0 zetec turbo engine for it and aim for 300+ bhp

I was looking to buy another car over the winter, possibly a mk1 escort, but now i will concentrate on making the black beauty come back quicker and stronger.

Heres a few pics of the bay and the hole in my block

That could have been really bad! Must say, a car going up would be a pretty scary one for me.

Least it wasn't too bad, and you can bring it back even better!
