im looking at buying a car, (as my current one has just been written off on monday morning) the one im looking at buying is currently on sorn (private seller), if i buy it will i be able to tax it as the v5/logbook wont be in my name

if you got the green bit of the logbook, insurers and the mot you can tax it at the post office.

i am pretty sure you can at main post office if in doubt look online im sure there will be some info

Yes,as long as you have a current mot and insurance certificate just go to the post office with the new keeper part of the log book.

i thought they could check that you have insurance online, with a data base link up they have now, just means i will have to wait for the paper copy to arrive, as i dont have a printer, but i guess they might not accept a home made print/copy

just been speaking to a women at directline, and she said that she taxed a car with just the green slip, as the mot and insurance is on the data base they use, just in case someone takes in a fake mot cert or cover note,

could that be right
