Red face st225 overboosting? help

My 55 plate totally standard ST has started to overboost. For some reason when I squeeze the throttle gently the boost guage swings to about half then on full throttle goes off the guage!!!! It is not a guaging problem either because it feels like its overboosting! I loose power when it goes off the guage to (possibly spark blowing out)

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance

Well I took my drivers side wheel and arch liner out and I have found what appears to be a hose off but can`t find where it goes to??!!

See piccies below (taken from drivers side arch looking back), could this be my problem?

Won't be boost valve, they fail safe, i.e. no power would mean less boost, it's going to be a hose which goes from the valve to the actuator, or the one going from the compressor housing to the valve.

What you are experiencing is overboost protection!

Cheers for all the advice and steering me in the right direction. That hose I found off was in fact a drain hose from the scuttle panel and is supposed to be like that! I changed the boost control solenoid located behind the drivers side wheel arch liner on spec and car now runs like a dream so thanks everyone.
