just a quick question been thinking about doing this for a while and just wanna clarify something.
looking at getting a escort cosworth shell and buiding it from shell up.
if i get a sierra cossy 4x4 as a donor would i have most of the running gear i would need?
if not what additional parts would i require?
wanna make a shopping list of everything i need.

Yes escos and 4x4 saphs use pretty much all the same running gear, the escort cos basically has a saph floor pan so everything underneath is the same.

However by the time you have bought a escort cossy shell, and a 4x4 saph, you probably would of spent as much as it would cost to buy an escos complete, unless your getting the escos shell for under 3k.. (in which case it is most likely a tracked out car/and or on a duff ID) Alot of the escos shells about at the mo seem to be motorsport versions on rs2000 id's and stuff. ..

 

well i'm looking for a motor-sport shell without the sunroof. to put it on the road properly via a iva test when complete and theres no better way to create a cosworth to my spec cos if i brought a complete one i'd be chucking most of it out to start from scratch anyway

 

hi there, me and my friend are building another escort cosworth with the wrc body kit and found it is really easy one you have studied the basics there's no limit to what you want to build if you have lots of spare time on your hands. we got a sunroof model and removed the skin for a carbon one and the shell was a fwd but now one saff coss floor later we have a cosworth shell. you can swap everything over but the prop as that is too long for the escos chassis. good luck with it and i cant wait to see what you get.

Only thing that doesn't fit is the rear prop, it's shorter on an escort than it is on a sapphire.

 

One problem with the Iva it won't have a age related plate more likely end up as q registered car

 

The difference between running gear is

rear prop
rear anti rollbar
front anti rollbar
abs sensors
steering rack

 

they have stopped the Q plate now all cars will be on age related plates
