Default 205 mi16 - how quick are they?

How quick would a well speced 205 mi16 on throttle boddies be? Now I did have a well built nova with a red top before my rs turbo and it went really well. Just looking towards my next project now.

Cheers.

My old RST was chipped - 170ish bhp and I would stay with Karl Norris in his 205 Mi16 with no difference in acceleration until an indicated 135 on both clocks.

Personally when I had one I wasn't that impressed it felt gutless compared to a Turbo car.

Where they really win is in the handling dept (if you can drive em) as they're light and stop well.

For a tear up around the lanes or point to point between islands they're a bloody good laugh though.

i just sold my 205 gti running a mi16 engine on jenvy throttle bodies, the car was stripped out as well and it was a serious bit of kit, my mate had it off me cause he wanted to play with us in the cossys and frs, but didnt want the running costs, tbh its one of the most impressive cars ive owned for the money and would have it back if possible already owned it twice now lol!

when we took it to pod it was running consitant 14 deads every run and out on the road it will pull away from my mk1 260bhp frs up to about 50-60 then the frs will just creep past but theres not a lot in it tbh, it will happily play with my mates 400bhp 4x4 cossy and my other mates jamsport converted 400bhp mk2 frs, tbh he spends more time in front than behind if we all go out for a blast

they are N/A so never gonna feel that impressive compared to a turbo powered car.
but they are definitely pretty handy in the right environment,
tight twisty tracks like airfield track days, and they can be very quick..

on a track like castle combe though, where you dont drop below 3rd gear.
you need a bit more poke TBH.

depends what you do to it! mine was 180bhp but had the mi-16 box.went like stink still form the low down, but at top end due to the box it carried on to 155 no issue. made alot of "bigger"cars look silly. would have one now as a track car if i could afford two cars.

and my car list aint sad. 180bhp rst,250bhp rst,280bhp pulsar,350 bhp saff and my current 400 bhp escort.

I had a 198bhp one 11 years ago
It was a proper little go-kart, Reved well & pulled all the way round to the limiter
