Default Ka brake upgrade

Hi all,

I'm looking around for available brake upgrades for the project Ka. Ideally I wanted to put Focus 1.8/2.0 brakes on the front because I have some Ferodo DS2500 pads which have hardly been used, and they provided very good friction on a car that weighs around 400kg more

I have heard however that I'll need the carrier to make it fit which is part of the hub? I have heard also that ST170 brakes are a straight swap but I wont get 300mm discs behind 14" wheels. I guess the other option is Mondeo brakes but as said, I'd rather use the pads I have sitting around.

Thanks!

So you want to go through the expense and hassle of trying to fit Focus brakes just because you have the pads already? I'd take a step back and look at that you're trying to achieve!

I'm not too sure about the ST170 fronts but the rear's barelly fit under my 15's and they'll be smaller than the fronts, I have 285mm front brakes and they just about fit under 14's so with an educated guess I'd say the 300mm fronts probably wouldn't fit under 14's, I can't think of anyone I know who's tried it either

It's not much of an expense considering it's about £12 a caliper and a set of front discs will cost me no more than £40 or so. I'm just saying if it isn't much effort to put them on then great, it will save me buying new pads as well but if it's a ballache we can do something else.
