Question turbo recommendations for 600bhp

as title i left a message on cr turbo,s facebook page asking for a turbo to get my car to 600hp

my engine spec is

Current spec is : 200 block, cooper rings with six long studs, Carillo h-section rods, Cosworth forged and pocketed pistons, BD16 Inlet, BD14 Exhaust, WRC spec big port head, custom plenum and a good old T4. Running on a L8 with MSD coil pack conversion and closed loop with air to air boost control.it also has ALS&launch control.

my original thought was put a roller bearing conversion on my t4 with a bigger exhaust housing & a gt35 compressor wheel & housing

i was surprised by what cr turbo recommended which is this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Garrett-T0...#ht_1858wt_700
which is a 750hp turbo

so what is your opinions are they right ?

i dont think a t04z would make 750 on a yb though, does on an rb26 or 2jz though. hasnt rod got a borg turbo for sale that should be good for this ?

Precision PT6262CEA ball bearing should get you there.

http://www.precisionturbo.net/Street...PT6262-CEA/245

Sadly dont think there are any UK stockists. Price above is for their oil journal unit, BB is extra $600

Either way, great value units.

Generally if you want to make xyz bhp, then you will need a blower capable of a bit more to actually allow you to make the power without having to ring the absolute life out of it.

Or a GT30HTA or an FP Black (Would be an Evo fitment, but sure it can be modded to fit a YB) maybe an AMS 750R turbo - whatever that is...

Not a 35 unless you're on a stroker motor or like waiting for your boost

Change of cams to start with

To4z is good, and on race fuel will make 750 on a very well specced yb, more than that infact. But its too big for 600andy IMO

600 is a little difficult to aim for turbo choice wise

GT35R will piss it, but be pretty laggy on a 2ltr. Id go with one of Scoobyclinics (Blouch) GT30 Billets.

Their billet wheel is of superior design to that of the GTX wheel and is proven to be a better performer. (Certainly on an impreza) Will give much better punch on the 2ltr too.

I would go with their recomendation, as when you upgrade to the skyline box you will likely want more power anyway??? so saves you buying another turbo

just my 2 cents

Pretty much agree with above here. Got to see what people are fitting to the Jap cars as they are so much more up to date on turbo's then most in the Ford world.

Another suggestion is Borg Warner EFR turbo, which one though im unsure.

My engine made 540bhp on a T4 and it still holds 32psi at 8000rpm, good enough for me

Hopefully someone can do a direct comparison with a more modern turbo Gav

Isn't Mike's T4 heavily modded? What would one cost new in Mike's spec?

as far as i know Mike has swopped his rs 200 compressor wheel back to the standard t4 wheel so only difference is maram shaft & roller bearing cartridge

A GT35 would work well or even better a BW300SX.

Default Turbo choice

Hi buddy a t04z is a good turbo I have one from vince and it is real good it has a twin scroll .82 exhaust housing.

A gtx30 is good but are a little fragile ! Only my opinion but you won't be disappointed !

That engine has done more mileage being taken to be repaired than it has in the actual car

Goes like fook though, shame its just not been reliable enough.

Whatever turbo you buy there will be a better option out by next week, I wouldn't worry about whats best now, just buy something capable of what you want and enjoy the extra power.

I'm only messing mate, I wasn't doubting your old mans work.

Just seems that he suffers from bad luck with certain expensive components failing !

Its a cracking engine though, for the few laps we did at the ring I was very impressed, that was a while ago now though so its probably totally different again !

I thought the piston cracked because an oil jet failed?

I would like a passenger ride in Mike's car

from what i read on escos owners site was poor design of piston ( not enough strength above gudgeon pin to top of piston )

what about a 60-1 comp wheel on your t4 mate ,i think they do 60lb of air [might be wroung]
you only need to machine the comp housing could be a cheaper option
