Hi guys,after a quick blast earlier today i had the bonnet up to check a few things and happened to notice that only the small fan attached to the rad was working........is this normal for the small fan to kick in first,then a few degree's more should the larger one come on??

Or should the both be coming on together at the same time??

one of them is for your aircon i believe, if you turn the aircon on it will kick in straight away.

 

air con- and rad fans
if things get too hot it will put them both on

 

Yup they are twin stage fans so one comes on first, then the other if temps continue to rise.
