European Ford Show - Sept 11
Who's going to this? Any clubs going? would be good to get the Middlesex RSOC stand out there
Its in Holland and ive been meaning to go for years so have decided this year i will do it as long as the saff isn't in bits.
Who's up for it?
Anyone else going from the UK? What other clubs you with?

Twins will most likely be going, his crew been going for donkeys years. Its a quality show, nothing as mad as we have here but nice to have something different. But they've moved it which is further away from the Ring, so its not as attractive to us lot as it once was. No idea what they're playing at to be honest, organisers should focus on what the public want.
Oh aye, no doubt. Matt Lewis normally goes every year, he was there when I went in 2008. But it was a decent place in Landgraff where they had a 0-60 track and a little space lined out with cones for the handling course.
I don't think there's a track in this new place and like I said, its further away from the Ring. It'll be rude not to visit that place while you're over there

I normally arrange for the FCGB's stand at the show, but may go with the FC.NL as I know a few of them, also a number of the XRRS club of Holland.
The new venue has the area to run the sprints, but local government is draging their feet with a licence. (I was over there last month for another event and this is what I was told.)

Club stand information has not been sent out yet - the Dutch are very laid back! The cost is normally 10 per person either paid in advance or clubs can pay for and pick up pre booked stand passes and tickets from the showground on the Saturday. I think club stands can be booked up to the end of August.
It still is a great show.
Some of the staff of XR/RS club Holland is also here on PF and will probably tell you the same or similair about moving the venue to the current location
2010 was a disaster, due to the license for the track action being held back at the last moment. (long story, but it looks like someone p!ssed off about something happened earlier that year during the anual XR/RS club meet, and pulled the plug out of getting the license in order. )
2011 the license was not givven ... until late.. .. combined with the history of the year before .. it was not as busy as before.. but a VERY good show.
The new site doesn't have as much 'feel' as the Landgraaf site did.
But it needs to grow.
Yes, it's further away from the Ring, Yes it's further away from belgium, Germany .. causing it to attract less european drivers.. and that's a shame.
But the biggest shame is the exploiter of the former site (landgraaf) fining the club with huge amounts, when they might have seen a dog.. or spotted an stain that could have been an oil stain on the tarmac, which wasn't there before ...
The fines added up, the rent went u skyhigh .. and the organisation was a lot less flexible this way.
The oil stain issues also are the reasons why people needed to park on the grass, in stead off on the tarmac .. cause oil on the grass is not as easy to spot..
The new venue area.. has a great area to park up the cars, both for clubs as for individual visitors.
Due to safety regulations, the sprint (200m) could only be a one lane sprint, so not really a competition... but the organisation might look at changing that.
The slalom course this year was VERY good imho.
The weather.. always tricky in September, but apart from a few drops.. we had lovely weather

Sorry mate, but the biggest attraction to this show for us lot was the Ring being so close to Landgraff. But the show is still good, providing more track action is arranged.
If you went via the ferry from Harwich (or Hull) I think it is only about 90 miles to the showground. You can always go onto the Ring and stay there after, it just depends what order you do things in.
i would love to go but im in kent and the kent group tell us nothing cant even get on the site on here into the group

Yikes mate, pushing your luck with the weather at that time though. You not partial to a hot day at all? If its winter, pick a time there's snow about
But might be a pain for guests to get to the venues.
I did Temple Bar in Dublin for my stag, expensive as hell but awesome! Spain is always a winner, Costa Del Sol was my second choice but know full well I would have ended up in prison there

Javier is where we will be going in Spain - very nearly got arrested myself out there last time on a stag
them spanish coppers are proper wankers

Latest update... The European Ford Event 2012 has been canceled.
http://www.europeanfordevent.nl/en/
in short:
Bankrupcy of the Owner of the showground.
Why not to Landgraaf, this has probably to do with the strict (near absurd) rules the owner of the Langraaf showground has put down, including insane fines.
- dog on the showground: fine
- oil leakage on the tarmac (just a small drop):fine (if it was there already or not.. that's not for you to decide) That's also the reason why there was a need to park up on the grass in stead of on the neat tarmac
- Donut or burnout on the end of the sprint/slalom:fine
(p.s. it's the same showground the well known Pinkpop festival is being held every year)
So it's unlikely they'll return to that showground, unless nothing else is there to be found.
The main issue with venues like that in Holland is the licenses needed to organise such a venue, apart from the additional licenses needed for track action. (the reason why 2010 was a disaster.. the track license was eventually canceled just the day or 2 before)
Unlike venues like Ford Fair, it's being organised by the volenteers of the XR/RS club Holland, and not by a commercial organisor. The budget is tight and the time is often short (after work hours and/or weekend for most people) It's been a miracle every year they got it all up and running.
Personally i find it sad this year has been canceled, but they had no choice. Time is to short to try and find another showground, incl licenses and advertising/PR around it.
It will be a blow to the event in all.. and hopefully the venue will get a new location for next year.
