Default Fiesta ST tyres.

This isnt an asking for advice, but a sharing advice post..

Recently i'v just swapped my wheels with the Ford recomended O.E Pirelli P ZERO NERO 205/40/17,

To my other set of wheels with Yokohama Prada sp2 again 205/40/17.

Even tho the sizes are the same the Yokos profile is fractionaly larger,

However the difference is unbelivable, i'v done roughly 8000 miles on the pirellis and they have become as you'd expect gradually worse, grip is and allways has been shit in any thing other than the perfect dry, and road noise has been poor and in the last couple of thousand unbareable hence why i swapped and the fact they were beggining to get down about 1mm off the legal limit.

Yokos had them befor on my old zetec-s 195/50/15 and was very impressed. so expected them to preform.

So far done around 1000 miles with them on the ST and the grip is noticably better than the Pirellis ever have been, that includes the wet.
Road noise is much better too a lot quieter.

If the ones i had on my old car are anything to go bye and that was set up much firmer and more track orientated with Spax RSX and pollybushes through out. the wear was very good and noise didnt increase much..

Hope this can be of help to some body,

Oh the ST is lowered on Eibachs -35mm.

IMO, pirelli have fallen of the bus lately, and will be a while till they catch up again.

Yoko, Toyo and dunlop seem to be the best atm

swings and roundabouts, my old man has pirellis on his jag and there much better than mine have been. Suppose suspension and geomitrys have a big part to play.

is it purely the increase in size on the jag though?

if he was to switch to some sticky yoko's or toyo R1R's he might see even better results

could be, there only a inch wider, 8x17 but obviously the suspension is a lot softer.
