without a doubt a mod is going to come along and tell you that you have to list a price. if you have a ball park figure why not put it up? surely worth around a grand?
correct and having been off the road for a few years the dvla will possibly want to see the car as well, this happened to a mate of mine as they wanted to check it hadnt just had a dodgy mot put on it just to get the plate off

Car is getting mot'd this saturday and there is no reason why it should fail. Was expecting to have the car inspected as the friend i bought the plate off had his saff done to remove it. Old bloke carrying out the inpection didnt even check any floor numbers or anything. Wasn't any point in my friend even taking it to them.

Thats strange. The website your referring to has got my reg listed. I havent given them any details to sell it for me. Going to enquire with them and try to buy my own reg. See what happens

I never said that i said they had e and d plate numbers ending in cos. If you mean you have found it on there someone has prob done a valuation and its put it on there. Or from the previous owner never took it off when they sold it. Oh i see d 40 tyre

I think it's luck of the draw tbh! My mates missus works at VOSA and she said some of the guys are ultra-anal. A pal of mine went to the local office with his kit car and got away with murder! No indicators, small rear plate, ultra noisy bike engine.

Was just going to say that - need to at least half it. No offence meant but you defo will not get 2k for that. Ive been offered a grand for mine several times and turned it down but reckon i could possibly squeeze 1.5k if i had to sell it.
Its like anything really - it all depends what the buyer wants to spend.
mate - no offence mate but i reckon you could sell your plate between 1-1.5k otherwise you will still have it @ 2k.
As for who wants D16 VRS, several people, some of whom are on this forum and one guy in Scotland who bought E16 VRS (which I was going to buy but it before him but spent it on the car instead
)
Or look at it another way, if the sale of cars are slowing down then luxury items such as fancy reg plates are defo not going to sell at the rate they were previously.

the thing with reg plates its a very personal thing.
When i bought my 3dr it had its original plate D99 MAT - the guy i bought the car off told me it was a private plate so i ended up paying a bit more for the car.
Had RegTransfers or some similar company value it and they said they could get me close to a grand for it so i let them advertise. A year later not even 1 phone call
Ended up putting it on ebay and it sold within a week for £700.
My D16 VRS was only £250

the most sought after reg for a cosworth is E5COS
even these plates are ok... and there cheap!
and to be honest if your plate wasnt on your car i think it would be inbetween them

just sold my private plate number plate place quoted or valued 1350 in my pocket 2 years later no one offer dropping it to 600 in my pocket for a year nothing. Just sold on ebay 500 better that paying for it to be put on retention and having bugger all.
Ebay it and it will get sold, but not for the 2k you are looking for.
Someone has A51 ERA - it was on the 3dr photoshoot at brunters - thats the plate i would rather have
now thats a more realistic value
- i would take the car or even the reg plate to some shows and display it there for sale - more likely to sell it there closer to the price you want mate.
