Default Compression ratio - discussion

All new to me this and really would like to gain a little knowledge

Would basically like to know how you work out what the ideal ratio is what for what HP and turbo.

Also when taking in to account block height and skimmed heads

For example, when using a BB turbo with higher C/R map does it shorten the life of the turbo due to the heat

I have read through loads of C/R threads and it appears to make no sense at all, recommendations vary.

Cheers

Maybe a higher compression ratio will require less boost for the power your trying to achieve ?

Me and my mate have exact same spec cars.

Except I'm 7.5-1 he's 8.5-1

Between the gears, his car pulls better, less lag when re applying throttle. Both GT30's

Both cars similar 1/4 mile times, etc
