Default Bodykit weight

How much weight can I save if I remove the full bodykit maybe even including the bumpers from my S2 track car?

have you stripped the foam from inside the bumpers?

a good few pounds of weight in them. hack it out then clean out the rest with a petrol soaked rag..

the rest of the bodykit weighs naff all if you attach it right and dont fill it with filler lol

it weights so little anyway, probably more aerodynamic with the front bumper on. more benefit removing the spare wheel well and doing a twins job on the back bumper

Ive been told that the rear window/tailgate is why the escort weighs more than the orion, despite the orions extra 2doors and 6inchs in length or whateva it is...

Its just I was watching a programme about race car building and they were saying "light is right" cos weight is the enemy of performance etc so I started thinking of ways to reduce it.

Well having looked at sas's grey Mk3 with no bumpers on and the FMIC fully exposed it made sense to me that this would be most efficient for airflow. He has removed the spare wheel well too for better aerodynamics under the car.

My car does not have half the power of his but could still be made nearly as light which would lead to an improvment in handling and performance.

Yes I do have a sunroof fitted the car is kinda half striped out as I have retained the front interior but think I might just go the whole way and rip it all out.

Lose the sunroof, which will remove weight, which will lower the centre of gravity etc.
