I've almost talked myself into buying an ipad. Mainly to watch films on while travelling and to use face time to speak to my wife when I am away.

I've thought about it before and think I asked some questions on here.

Are they really worth the money?? They aren't exactly cheap.

I'm put off by the whole itunes thing tbh. I'd like a nice easy drag and drop for files.

I've just found an app called CineXplayer which looks good for watching avi films. It saves converting them.


What cool stuff do you lot use on your ipads? Any cool games? Something a little more challenging than things like angry birds.

What size do I need? I think 32 gb would be ok but fook knows.

Help please.

BTW I'd probably rather have a non-apple style tablet but the rest are shite! Or are they? Any suggestions?

 

Played about with the motorola Xoom , the other day, but they cost ipad money anyways! But it was good

 

bought one a month or so ago now, its pritty much stopped my using the PC lol its just so much quicker to load up does pritty much everything i want it too and the battery even last longer than my laptop.....

if its just for watching videos and using that facetime thing should be fine.... and storage all depends on how many films/music you plan on saving on the device.... 32GB will probably allow around 30 -35 films....

 

I'll pretty much have a laptop with me at all times too so moving music and fils isn't a problem so thats why I'm thinking aim for the middle size.

Probably because its simplified down, has all the basic bits you use on the full version, with out all the add crap surrounding it.

I have used my Ipad probably 10 times since I bought it!

If you have an iphone and a laptop I just don't see what an Ipad does OTHER than be good for watching stuff on planes. BUT the in flight entertainment on modern long haul flights is awesome. I always take Ipad and never use it!

prefer the case on Ipad to Ipad2 as well. I picked up Ipad2 by corner... case came off. Dropped it

because for some reason, when you go to the facebook webpage it doesnt load the chat thing, so you have to use the app for that..... unless thats only on the ones ive used

Typing this on a motorola xoom tablet. Great alternative to the ipad. I don't like the whole Apple culture and bullshit so went Android. Turned out to a good decision. I use it for work email, remote management of our servers, pick up my gmail, video and voice call using skype, cameras are pretty good and I am addicted to a game called Paradise Island.

I have a 16GB wifi only model and it has more storage than I think I can fill right now. Feels solid and runs fine. Cost me less than the equivalent ipad, but thats probably because i bought it in duty free

 

If you use your laptop regularly, then you'll find yourself reaching for the iPad instead. It's a really nice, useful, and easy to use gadget that no one 'needs', but is really nice to have.

Just buy one! You can always sell it on for pretty much what you paid for it if you find you don't get on with it.

 

Yeah well I thought about one .. mainly for the travel but .. I bought a Dell Mini 1210 Net book instead .. mainly because it has a HD cam, Win 7, SD card slot etc etc .. Same size as an Ipad .. Bit thicker ..

I-pads can do the work but I like a proper keyboard .. & it was half the price ..

buy an ipad... Get 32gig mine was fine. Get an Ipad 2 though you will only regret getting a 1 after...

Never used an iPad (never seen the need). I dont see the point of all these tablet / android things but the new motorola one seems OK

I ONLY use my IPad 1 for watching films, but as I spend most my time as home I watch them on my TV. I prefer to use my Macbook when at home or the iPhone as its quicker than taking the ipad out the bag

My iPad 1 is mint, cleaned everytime after use and went straight into the case before I turned it on at purchase. Im tempted to sell it, but due to how much they are worth now I may aswell just give it to my son

Depends what you use your laptop for, im the opposite to that, if I am on a tablet I just want to put it down and use a laptop so I have a proper keyboard to type on instead.
If its just for reading stuff on or watching a film then tablets are ok, but the moment I actually want to do something, its straight for the laptop.

I like the ease of it all so I'm deffo swinging towards getting it. I also wondered if the resale would be reasonable enough if I get fed up but more than likely my wife/kids would get it

Mate with iTunes all the music you have on your computer in music you copy them to iTunes. It's not bad as people think

 

i bought an ipad 2 the other day must have used it twice for no longer than 10 minutes, completley pointless i should ve kept my 519 and bought something useful. i am typing this on my desktop, the ipad is in the living room. my iphone 3gs does everything i want, ebay, facebook, internet, mms etc....... i bought it and justified the purchase by saying... i will use it when away on business... well i went away wednesday/thursday and it remained in the living room.

does anybody need one........ the answer is NO

 

take mine to work everyday, use the free unlimited internet from my iphone to allow ipad online, watch films, play games, surf the net, and can even watch films stored on my PC at home, tv catchup is also good. expensive but i wouldnt be without mine now

This is my exact fear

I get the worlds worst "i want" (not an 'i' pun!) and usually it'd be bought by now. However I have resisted which is telling me to keep my wallet shut. I'll see how it goes this next time away...
