2 stage? why? 103C is a good temp. Allows oil to get nice and warm to burn off any water.

I always get annoyed with two fans switching on and off, the sierra uses a similar 2 fan setup and the temps are dead stable, less fan noise etcetc.

So im thinking one fan is (at the moment before i test it!) going on @ 87ish and off @ 84 and the other fan is kicking in around the 100 mark as above,

As long as them temperature is nice and stable (ie doesn't constantly over shoot then under shoot) then im happy, and if it turns out i don't need to individually control two fans then i have a spare programmable output to do something with

87 is too low. You will be fighting the thermostat for a start. What you will find is in traffic one fan will be on all the time, with the other cutting in an out.

Cheers guys, i'll have a play. My aim is to get a nice stable temp which is something i never managed by switching two fans at once.

I just run a standard switch and have stable temps, hovers around 95-105 degrees in this warm weather.

Cool, maybe it will be fine with one output then. My sierra has independent switches for the fans and controls temp much better than my rst did. Trial and error should give some decent results.

I think i'd better invest in a proper temp gauge rather than relying on the Ford one... As it is all over the place at best lol!

Hi

Yes it needs wiring cutting cos the fan switch has his own wiring & plug and not match with the rs turbo fan switch plug......
As simple as cut wirings and fit new faston plugs male-female and job done.
Hope this helps....

Not a hijack at all mate. Its a pressurised system so the coolant boils at a higher temp around 110 deg c i think? Boiling coolant is dangerous as it severely hurts the systems ability to cool. So running at 100degC is safe, just not sure if it will hurt performance at all and stop me running as much advance.

My temps seem to rise quickly at low speeds, even when not booting it around. When my fans kick in they seem to take ages to cut off again... arnd 8-10mins. If i cruise along at 30-40mph the temps drop rapidly! Just got an airtec rad fitted, so i know thats all good - thinking more of an airflow prob over the rad?

Lol, thats the problem, i don't know yet!

But Rick makes a very good point above, if your coolant it over 100c then you stand a better chance of getting your oil above 100c which is good as it lets any water evaporate etc.

But, it the temps are too high i may not be able to run as much advance. I think im going to aim for 90-95 at the moment as its nice and safe and experiment more later.

Do you run with front mount intercooler???
It will reduce airflow over the rad............

Yeah ive got a radtec front mount with the fans on the front...
I was thinking of sealiing the intercooler to the rad somehow to force more air through it?

First at all, try to fit fans in front of radiator....sure you will get better coolant temps
and less time fans on....

I traced my faulty fans on my 2dr Sierra back to the plug on the harness that goes to the switch. I have hunted high and low and not able to find the right plug for the factory sensor. Any ideas?

May have to grab an aftermarket sensor and plug and wire it in but would rather stick with the factory switch...or perhaps make a loom and use an Escort two stage switch. I am in Australia and being warmer like the idea of one fan kicking in around 82deg. I have seen thermostats that open earlier so will be grabbing on of them as well

Ive noticed according to tunerstudio/MS my fans kick in at 95c and go off at 91c...
Is that too high?
I do get alot of air come out between rad n intercooler when the fans r on... So they tend to stay on 4 ages 2 get the water temps to fall again.
