Question Newbie question sorry .. . . broken key . . . not found a relevant answer yet

Hi all, please bear with me on this, I have looked on here for other related topics but haven’t seen an answer to my question in any of them so I’m gonna have to start this thread and ask.

The unlock button on my Focus keyfob has broken off, and not knowing anyone with a soldering thingy to put it back on I was wondering if this is right –

If I buy a 2nd hand key, or a key off ebay, I can swap over the circuit board part of the keys, and put the new part back together on the old bottom, the bit that has the glass immobiliser thing & battery in it. then all I need to do is go through the re-syncing method in the car.

I don’t want to have to pay my local Evans Halshaw Frauds dealer, especially as they ripped me off big time just after xmas, (but that’s a different thread J ). To get a new key for £170 when I can get a cheap fix for about a tenner???

Many thanks in advance for all those taking the time to read and answer this.

Yes, you can buy a second hand fob off ebay, take your pats transmitter (the glass immobiliser thingy) out of your original key and put it in your new one, clip your key onto the end, you dont need to change the circuit board as you can resync the new fob to your car. Simples.
