Ok guys, my car has this reoccurring problem when it keeps over heating, all the wiring is fine going to the sender unit have just put a brand new motorsport developments sender unit in but it still keeps over heating, any other things I could be looking at?
It's had a compression test which was fine, and the water pump is working also, faulty switch/sender thingy?

I changed the stat when the rad was out doing the cambelt, it seems the rad is blokes with shit, so the hot water isn't getting near the switch and hence not making it kick in, grrr
so new rad i think!!

ok, just getting fed up of it now, bloody thing I just wana get it mot'd, note lads never buy a car that's been stood for years!
why re-wire the fans? they work fine.

The fan loom was sub standard to start with leave alone now, not to mention the huge span of the switch which leads to the melted fuse problem. I guess if there working ok but I certainly would not feel happy on the standard wiring!
Another issue is the fuel pump circuit, the wiring which builds resistance over time hence the pump cannot get the power it needs, this can lead to a meltdown!
These are two chronic weak points, just do a search on here!

As said new ones can be duff, have you actually heard/seen the fans working ?
You run a very big risk of a very big bill, if you don't rewire the fans and fuel pump, you may be lucky, but certainty of these working is better than hoping, and it's very cheap to do.
I would first test the fans with direct power unless you have seen/heard them working.

yeah the fans have been working in the past, as there was a switch inside which would turn them on, but the connector on to the switch was cowboy-d so the garage took the wiring out for the new switch connector to be put in.
they had it running to full temp and noticed all the pipes were hot, the top of the rad but not the corner where the switch is, so dont think any water flow is getting to the switch.
